Dance; The Fun Way To Get Fit


If you’re looking for an exercise program but expensive fitness clubs or hiring a personal trainer isn’t in your budget, dancing might be right up your alley. It’s a choice that often gets overlooked. Involving yourself in a dance program for fun and fitness makes a lot of sense. Usually dance classes are available in a local community centre, a YMCA or a local school in the evening and don’t usually cost much to join. Great for its health benefits; going to a dance class is also a good place to get out and meet new people.

Maybe you’re thinking; dance just is NOT for me. Sometimes if you’re in a rut in your life or in your relationship, stepping out of your comfort zone can be liberating and revitalizing for yourself and your partner should they decide to join you on the dance floor. It can be a fun night out for the two of you. If your spouse or partner doesn’t want to join, don’t force the issue with them. There are plenty of classes available. Once they see what a benefit it has been to you; there is a better possibility that they will join you in the next session of classes. Even if there isn’t a partner in your life; there are classes that are specifically available for the single crowd. A great opportunity to mingle, meet new people and give those muscles a much needed workout while you’re doing the two step AND  you’ll  also get a chance to hang out with other singles instead of tagging along with your girlfriend and her guy when they go to dance clubs. Sometimes it’s tough when you feel like you’re the third wheel.

The forms of dance offered are diverse and differ in skill levels. If you’re a beginner, choose an appropriate type of dance that will give you the health benefits and challenge you without frustrating you. Read up on them on the internet or at your local library. The course curriculum will generally give you an idea of the course level; beginner or advanced.

So whether it’s the salsa that makes your pulse quicken and revs your engine up or the elegant waltz or even a sultry course in belly dancing; go for it! Get out there and get your feet tapping and your pulse racing and dance your way straight into the best shape of your life. When you exercise, you feel good and when you feel good, life’s challenges are easier to manage. Cheers!
