Getting Excited About Getting Fit

Sometimes we miss the bigger picture in life and miss out on grabbing on to the brass ring. Getting motivated to become more fit is similar. Life's busy and sometimes we get caught up in the daily routine. All of the best New Year's resolutions aside, we don't act in our own best interests and our fleeting goals of getting in better shape. Unfortunately, we can get bogged down by making our goals too unrealistic.

How to get motivated -

1. Set realistic goals. Start by changing your mindset. Next time you see an ultra-fit person walk by; don't tell yourself that you could never achieve that, tell yourself that you could. Let some positive energy replace the negative that can hold you back.

2. Find an exercise that works for you. Learn about it and why it's healthy. Try out different aspects of it to stave off the daily exercise boredom. It sounds kooky, but let yourself truly enjoy it and the benefits it brings you.

3. Push yourself past your limits. While your body is adjusting to the new movements and stretches, you will find your limits very quickly. Don't get caught up with limiting yourself once you've gotten into a bit of a routine. Pushing yourself out of your comfort level can take your exercise benefits to a new high and give you a positive boost in self-confidence and endurance.

4. Re-define your thoughts of food. Once you get into a routine, you may need to de-program yourself from diving into the foods that you've always derived a temporary pleasure from. Start looking at it as fuel to drive your new motivation instead of a comfort food. Once you do this, it will become easier to pass by the junk food or the extra helpings. Just one more long-time benefits of a well-tailored and appropriate to you exercise program.
