New Year Resolutions For A Better Relationship

We've all made the New Year's resolutions that just don't stick. Like joining the gym, shedding those unwanted pounds or staring that project that you've wanted to do. Sometimes they just fizzle out. Try a new kind of resolution this year. Take the step with your partner to help make your relationship better and stronger.

1. Make some travel plans. (Note: If you can't afford some villa in France or a warm sunny destination; take weekend trips which can be much more affordable.) Adding financial stress of a vacation you can't afford will only cause problems. Planning a trip and saving for it can help bring a couple closer. As the time approaches, the excitement builds for you as a couple to realize the dream that you've always had of getting away together for some alone time.

2. Resolving to spend more time with the in-laws, can help you strengthen both your relationship as well as the one you share with your extended family members. If you have trouble spending time with them, just remember that the insights from spending dinners and occasions with them will help you learn more about your spouse and the way they were raised. This information is invaluable as you negotiate through your married life.

3. Check out new activities or learn a new skill together. Look into activities close to home that way you aren't inconvenienced by a lengthy commute on work nights. It's fun because it brings something new to the table and makes it feel like your dating again.

4. Save one night every two weeks for date night. Be committed to keeping them and fitting them into your busy schedule. They are ideal times away from the regular commotion of a hectic life. Use them to re-connect on a deeper level. It's a great atmosphere and opportunity for discussing things that sometimes get bottled up or set aside to make time for something else.

5. Resolve to making good financial decisions together. Try to stay away from placing blame on each other and instead work on focusing on better choices in the future. The respect that comes from the two of you working together to save or put away money for a trip, pay off a loan or whatever will intensify your trust and faith in your partner. That's a no-brainer. If there's trust, respect, faith in your spouse and love, the sky's the limit in your relationship.

Time to take the New Year's challenge together. Don't forget to share the laughs and keep encouragement for each other at an all-time high. Your relationship will only strengthen as soon as you and your partner resolve to make  your life together better!
