Unfortunately in life as with other things, hindsight is 20/20. Why do we wait to react until something goes drastically wrong; irretrievably wrong. If we can be proactive and help save someone some grievous pain or worse, why wouldn't we? Take for instance a case that has received a ton of media attention and a huge outpouring of sympathy, tears and prayers, not to mention an public outcry of "how could this happen?". 

Many can recall the recent news bulletins of Dustin LaFortune, a lucky survivor of an alleged assault that reportedly took place over not just hours, not just days, but MONTHS. His alleged attacker, a business partner and according to all reports, a viscious offender. 

Dustin, was a normal kind of guy, with a girlfriend, a Colorado Avalanche fan who liked to drink beer and hang out with friends. So, what led him to his attacker's hands. Who can know. When dropped off at an ICU unit, weighing only 45kg (99lbs) having been starved during his confinement. Down from his 200+ weight when he was reported missing by his family members. He had been sexually assaulted repeatedly, subjected to torture and mutilated. He also suffers from ABI (acquired brain injury). He is thankfully reported to be doing relatively well and now home in his mother's care. A bittersweet ending to months of torture. Dustin by all acounts is thankful to be alive. But what of his attacker? His alleged attacker, has mercifully been apprehended recently while living under an assumed name. Able to breathe a sigh of relief, Dustin and his family are grateful. Which leads to the case in point. 

At age 30, his alleged attacker, Dustin Paxton no doubt has committed attrocities prior to this.Coming to light, are new details, involving an under-age girl held at the same time as Dustin LaFontane. So what of these previous associations and relationships? Was there the likely tell-tale signs or the escalations of sexually deviant behaviours that could have and should have been brought to light well before his attacks on Dustin LaFortune and the young woman who were innocents falling into a trap and endless cycle of abuse? Did he start out peeping in windows or acting inappropriately with previous sexual partners? In many of these cases, there are distinct areas in which the puzzle pieces begin to fit. When you look at them on a whole; you are dumb-founded as to how you could miss them initially. But unfortunately, we often only get a partial version of a padded truth of what is playing out. Either from the perpetrator or their circle of friends. In short, it gets swept under the carpet by those most able to change the course of events.

For this reason and so many otthers, Cheateralert is important. To take control back and report incidents that would save any prospective victims.
